Just the "FAX"

Back in May after new corrective shoes and massages Fax didn’t seem to be getting around to well. She was eating like a “horse”. Her eyes were bright and she had gotten used to me rubbing and brushing her. I emailed my friend Nancy and asked her to tune in on Fax and send her some special thoughts and see if she could let me know what was going on with her.

Some of her reply was, For one she is embarrassed about getting old and not as agile as the young ones. Her best body therapy is to keep moving.

She appreciates your extra time and care. She is shy about sharing and may not tell you anything…….

So we changed the shoes, kept exercising and massaging, added oil and vinegar dressing to her grain and she really has made progress in the last month.

Had her previous owner send her special thoughts. Kept coaxing her to “get better”. Reiki, Sara frowns on that so just massage!

Yesterday Fax met Laura. Laura came to ride with her brother who has been riding with us for a time now. After introductions and a little history of Fax’s issues and Laura being a little nervous as a first time rider the session began. Laura had been prepared that Fax may do a little stumble but she had a leader and side walker and we would just do slow work. After a few trips around the ring Laura could take some deep breaths and let go of the grab strap with one hand! Oops, then Fax did do a little stumble. Laura forgot her worries. She reached out and patted Fax on the neck and said, “ She didn’t mean to do that. She’s embarrassed and very sorry”.

Fax was so pleased to have a job with someone who really had connected to her. Laura aced her first ride. RJ and Cowboy had a great time too as always!

Sara has recovered from the surprise of hearing Nancy’s words echoing from a rider that has just met Fax!

Horses, God’s magnificent creatures. We can never learn all they have to share.
