Next MT meeting Sunday, May 6, 2pm, Van Buren (Perfect Ponies Learning Center 489 Main St) Educational element: Equine Assisted Learning Exercises, "shoe string" horse keeping.
Business: Barn Dance plans, Scholarship Funding, Networking and New Opportunities,
MT met April 1 at Tracy's farm in Caribou. The Scholarship fan club drawing took place with Ken Page the winner of $100. Tickets are always available, $20/yr or $10 for 6 months. We draw a $100 winner on the first of each month.
While at Tracy's we had a tour of her facility and yard while planning the June 2 Family Barn Dance which will take place in her beautifully landscaped back yard 4-9pm, Shelley shared the Monticello Rec Dept will be hosting games, and preparing pop corn and cotton candy. DJ Express has been booked from 6-9 for which we are looking for sponsors to help defray the cost. Tracy told us Smokey the Bear will be on hand, and many 'mystery guests' are invited to say hello and/or entertain. Some special activities are planned as well. Cover has been will be $5/ea (except children under 3) with max of $20 per family. Door prizes, raffles and affordable supper will be on hand. Donations are being sought for many items. We are looking for an extra large tent/canopy to add to three 10 X 20 canopies we have available.
Scholarships were approved for $600 with another $200 pending. Please, if you have anyone interested in summer Equine programs, speak now, as your requests keep us motivated to raise funds.
Great news: Houlton Rotary is funding a wheelchair ramp for Aroostook Horse and Pony Associates in Monticello; Presque Isle Rotary has donated $250 to the Scholarship Fund! Future meetings with community organizations are scheduled. Many thanks to these organizations for helping MT to send special people to the Equine programs of their choice.

EXTRA EXTRA EXCITING NEWS from PAT THERIAULT of Fort Kent:
Yes, I am looking forward to going to the Brattleboro Region 1 Conference April 20-22 and my son's girlfriend, Alexa, is going to join me! She wants to take the Reiki for horses segment. I would love to take that too, but there are other presentations that seem more appropriate for me at this time. I have signed up for:
1. "Introduce and Train Volunteer Lesson Teams with Consistency, Safety and Confidence"
2. "Imagine the Possibilities" (Unmounted learning opportunities)
3. "Equine Embrace" (Equine Facilitated Therapy discussions)
4. "Natural Horsemanship Obstacle Course Demonstration" (Moving the Horse at Liberty through Obstacle Course)
5. "Inclusionary Competency-Based Carriage Driving" (Hands-on driving clinic! with lesson plans for an 8 week course!)
It was hard to decide, I wanted to attend everything! I would love to attend the Reiki sessions, I hope to have an opportunity to see the hands-on portion AND Alexa will be able to share what she learned.
I am attaching a link to the brochure to tempt someone else to go:

Then I am signed up to attend the Certified Instructor Workshop at Riding to the Top TRC in June:
