Childhood Violence and Trauma Workshop:
Last spring, The Aroostook Medical Center had the opportunity to host many of you at our 1-day "Childhood Violence and Trauma Workshop" featuring Presque Isle native, Carla Stover, Ph.D. Dr. Stover is a Clinical Psychologist, Assistant Professor at the Yale University School of Medicine
Child Study Center, and Research Coordinator for the National Center for Children Exposed to Violence.
Dr. Stover has indicated interest in coming back to the County to present a 1½-2 day training on "Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy." TAMC would love to host this follow-up event if there is enough local interest to make this worth Dr. Stover's time and investment.
Potential dates for this training include: Thursday, April 19 and Friday, April 20 or Thursday, May 24 and Friday, May 25.
An initial cost estimate would be approximately $130 - $150 for the training, which would include materials, breakfast and lunch for both days.
If this opportunity would be of interest to you and/or your staff, please let me know. There's no commitment on either side at this point, but an approximate headcount would give a sense of whether or not we can make a go of this. If you're interested, please be sure to indicate how many people you anticipate would attend from your office/organization and which of the proposed dates might work best for you. If we get enough of a response, I'll follow up with an official brochure and information regarding actual registration.
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Thanks, Joe PS - Please feel free to forward to anyone you know who might be interested.

Helping Halfway Home Pet Rescue is easy, you don't have to be a Caribou resident, here is a link to vote to extend the time the rescue can stay at it's present location until enough funds are raised to move into 'proper zoning' https://www.change.org/petitions/city-manager-caribou-allow-hhpr-to-continue-its-operations-until-it-finds-a-permanent-facility

Reposting:
The Citizen's Energy program that gave away 100 gals of heating fuel to numerous Maine households last year has opened for calls, early due to the LIHEAP cutbacks. 1877-563-4645 must try many times to get through.
News to help spay and neuter cats and dogs:
Help Fix ME has plenty of money right now, but it goes fast. So, if you could spread the word, have people call! 1-800-367-1317. The program is limited to cats, pit bulls and pit bull crosses because those are the ones that are filling up our shelters.
Please spread this word via facebook, twitter, and ditter (whatever) -- let's get some county animals fixed. You don't need to be on a government program to quality.

Friend looking for a home for kitty:
I call her Pretty Girl, and my grandson calls her sugarbib. If none of you would like her maybe you know someone that would like her. She isn't 2 years old yet (according to vet) and has been spade. She is a play full little thing, and loves attention. She is quiet and loves to be near you. Why I need to give her away is, I do clothing alterations for people and she is constantly playing with the threads and pins and all the things I can't have her playing with. She is a Love but my business prohibits me from having her here. I will not just throw her out, that is how I came to have her, her brother was taken with the help of PAWS Animal Foundation, but, I would really like to give her to a good home. Please help. If you know anyone, I will deliver her. Thank You. (grey tabby with white markings email Natalie for photo) Natalie Cofske, [email protected]
