Manes and Tails, Special, Opportunities, Animals, Classifieds (thank you contributors, sorry I can't get all the colors to match sections today)
Happy Veterans Day for tomorrow, Thank you to the men and women who have served in our Military all over the world, as well as each and every person who serves daily.
MT is happy to announce the Nov 1 winner of the Scholarship Fan Club drawing: Lexi Bartlett!! Good going! and thanks to the person who bought the winning ticket as a gift for Lexi.
Sweet how gifts can multiply (better returns than stocks and CDs) . The ticket that was purchased as a baby shower gift, (Winner Aug 1): the baby boy was born two days later and the parents stated the money would become part of the child's college fund.
Of course, We still need lots more signups!! Every penny that goes into this fund (not awarded in prizes) goes to helping people and families improve their lives with horse activities. Join up with a friend, or just send us a dollar contribution. Even stamps to send prizes and scholarships come out of volunteer pockets. We really want to keep getting people with horses and hope you do too.
Again Major thank you's to special donors and sponsors who have contributed to specific programs; and our forever bottle cleanup guy, Don Violette who keeps coming home with several dollars here and there from bottles people have given him to redeem toward the Scholarship Fund.
www.manesandtailsaroostook.webs.com is our website now that Elisabeth Dumond (in Taos, NM) has created and recently updated, she says it's still a work in progress (aren't we all) Thanks Elisabeth for all your help, with the site and also the FB Page. Manes and Tails Aroostook on Facebook was created by Karen Crouser in Southern Aroostook. We all contribute and I believe it's set for anyone to post. If you can't please let me know.
November Meeting may be in Van Buren, with news from Equine Affaire activities and learning sessions. Everyone will also meet new, donated 2011, members of the Special horse herd serving at Perfect Ponies LC.

Dear Family and Friends of G.E.A.R. Parent Network,
Well it's that time of Year again and the National Federation of
Families is now accepting entries for the National Federation Poster
Contest. Last year the poster was done on site, seems like they are back
to having various states bring entries to the contest.
2011 Theme:
"Youth Overcoming Trauma":
Create art work that showcases what inspires
you during times of difficulty.
I will be hand carrying entries for consideration as the mailing date
allows no time at all. So I know it is short notice, and G.E.A.R. would
love to bring a poster from Maine with me for the contest to DC on
November 16th.
There is a permission form that can be downloaded from the National
Federation of Families Children's Mental Health website at
www.nffcmh.org, go to conference info and under conference information
on the right hand side click on Poster Contest information. You may mail
your poster and release form for submission to me at the address below.
Thank you in advance for your consideration on this and would be so nice
to bring Maine kids talents to Washington DC!

Last year we raised $3,000 for the future building and we hope to beat that. So please get your $1.00 dollar bills ready and your envelopes addressed and stamped. Hopefully enough people will send their $ donation to help us raise the funds toward the cat building ($1.00 does it). HHPR, PO Box 488, Caribou, ME 04736
HHPR now has our new Christmas Calendar Sale for local people for February 2012 calendar winner. It's exciting, fun and you are very apt to be a winner. This is a great stocking stuffer. There are 29 "leaping lizards" prizes to be won. The Halfway Home Pet Rescue February Calendar is only $5.00 each. There are free haircuts, oil changes, car washes, pizzas, all kinds of fun gifts and money saving surprises, each valued at more than the $5.00. And you can win more than once!! Your name goes back into the basket. On the last day of January 2012, the 29 February prizes will be drawn and the winners will be notified. The February 29th prize is a $50.00 cash prize. Twenty-nine chances to win. Calendars can be purchased through Norma Milton at 492-1722, or Barb Ganem at 492-0949, or drop into the Caribou Chamber of Commerce and Jenny will be happy to sell the calendar to you.
Pizza Hut Fund-Raiser. A savings Value Card costing only $10.00 that allows you to enjoy a tasty meal while helping up raise funds to reach our building goal. The Value card offers 6 coupons for a $4.00 lunch buffet or a $2.00 personal pan pizza AND another 6 coupons for a medium pizza with up to 3 topping for only $3.00 with a purchase of a large pizza. Value Cards can be purchased NOW from Norma at 492-1722 or any HHPR board member. There is no expiration date on these cards.
All of us at HHPR are working hard to raise enough funds for a relocation of the shelter. Because we do not have any rent, utilities, fuel, elect, water/sewer, snowplowing to pay at 11 Pioneer Ave, it is very, very scary to think of major expenses that will come with either a rental or a mortgage. We will continue with this ambitious program of fundraising for the building in hopes that it will all work out in the end. Thank you, Norma Milton
