The Executive Director, KC Henry, was the Director of Fieldstone Farms when I lived in Ohio. It was called Therapeutic Riding Center at the time. " Here is the link to Horses and Humans http://www.horsesandhumans.org/ be sure to check out their news letters, sign up for emails and I just love what they say about attention to detail "Research is formalized curiosity. From Youth Vision : At our last Youth Vision Network Meeting our small group discussed working with area schools, and their students to address bullying. The Hope and Justice Project offers in school programming that responds to this issue and offers students the keys to recognize and respond to bullying, and how to support someone who is being bullied. GEAR WORKSHOPS

“Parenting with Dignity” curriculum is a 9 part parenting series by the Drew Bledsoe Foundation that teaches and encourages parents/caregivers to rethink their approach to discipline, punishment and empowerment. PWD teaches parents how to instill a sense of responsible decision making in their kids so that they can act responsibly when away from parents and to learn how to foster happy, self-directed children with a strong value structure and a sense of accountability for their actions. A Parents Workbook is provided that is used concurrently with the sessions that includes further explanations of the concepts along with many exercises and practical applications for parents to “try out” in their families. An additional hour class is added at the end on Family Group Decision making and healing tools. FMI

4-H news:

The Easton Trotters are organizing a Sheep and Fiber Festival to be held at Presque Isle's Tractor Supply store on Saturday May 11th from 10am to 4pm.

We will be having various demonstrations and exhibits throughout the day, one of which will be a shearing demonstration. We are looking for Aroostook County 4-Hers with sheep that need shearing for this demo. If you are interested in participating in this event, please contact an Easton Trotters leader ASAP. We will start with limiting this to two sheep per member, but please let us know if you have more... if we don't have many sign up, it may be possible that you can bring more sheep.

Also, any members who bring sheep for the shearing demonstration will be asked to also participate in a Showmanship clinic/demo. This clinic can help you prepare for showing at the fairs this summer as well as allow for the public to see what 4-H is doing here in the County.

We are looking forward to hearing from you! FMI Dee Hawksley [email protected]

HHPR IttyBitty Orphan Kitty programs

Each year, several litters of abandoned kittens come HHPR without a mother. This means a human must fill the mothering role until the kittens can eat on their own and use the litter box, which starts at about 4 weeks of age. It is rewarding work but can be exhausting for one person alone. We have trained volunteers who have saved dozens of kittens. But we need more help. HHPR is piloting a new program: the “Itty Bitty Orphan Kitty” Program, to train volunteers to provide orphan kitty care when babies start coming in 2013 kitten season. The training will be 3-sessions, 1 and 1/2 hour class to start Sunday, April 7th at 1 pm to 2:30 at the Caribou Lions Club Community Center (Please park in the back). A coffee with light refreshments will hosted after each training.
